On December 13, a Book Launch was held at the Sid G. Rule Primary School Hall in Grassy Park. Attended by friends, karate colleagues, students, parents, family and others - the book was launched with a program which included a background speech by MC Mr Suroor Christian, prayers by Sheikh Ismail Kieraan & Johan Ferndale, a reminiscent speech by my sister Shanaaz Parker (herself a successful author of cooking books), some words by myself and a closing speech by Shamiel Shira.
In-between, we had demonstrations by Rabia Narker (age 2) with Nuhaa Hendricks, Ilyaas Agherdien and Alia Shira. A demonstration of Kumite Kata Ni was done by Joseph Hardenburg, Nasiera Abrahams & Ridhaa Dien and the application of the same kata was done by Lwazi Dlamini, Byron Wessels & Jiyaad Manuel.
After the formal proceedings, everyone could literally “feast” on the food stuff available kindly donated by parents and other well wishers whilst the sale and signing of books was on.
The Hall was well decorated with trivia from my years of training and on coming into the hall, guests could view and peruse pictures from the past.
